2025-03-20: Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR and Audi R8 that starred at Retromobile ...
[](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4719/Mercedes-Benz-CLK-GTR-011.html)On the Fiskens stand during Retromobile starred two sports racing legends from the turn of the century. The earliest of the duo was this [Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4719/Mercedes-Benz-CLK-GTR-011.html), which was part of the all-conquering FIA GT Mercedes AMG effort. The very last competition version built, it was raced during the two opening rounds of the 1998 seasons before the V12-engined CLK-GTR was superseded by the V8-engined CLK LM. Chassis [011](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4719/Mercedes-Benz-CLK-GTR-011.html) won at Silverstone with Bernd Schneider and a very young Mark Webber at the helm. Eventually sold to a private collector, it was more recently restored to full running order and shown at Pebble Beach by its current custodian.
Also offered by Fiskens is this [Audi R8](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4725/Audi-R8-501.html); the first of the cars built for the 2001 season. In the hands of Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen, it scored a debut victory at Jarama and also won at Sears Point early in the 2001 season. Following its works career, [501](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4725/Audi-R8-501.html) was sold to the Japanese Team Goh. Re-finished in white with silver accents, it competed in the 2002 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished seventh. During the late 2000s, it was already used in historic racing but it has rarely been seen since.

[](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/283/Lotus-Elise-GT1.html)The Peter Auto series will kick off the 2025 season this weekend at the Circuito de Catalunya with the Espiritu de Montjuic. Ten different grids will be on the programme, which is so packed that there are no breaks during the weekend. One of the absolute headliners of the meeting is the Endurance Racing Legends 1 field for recent prototypes and GT1 cars. One of the very few first generation GT1 cars still racing is this [Lotus Elise GT1](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4747/Lotus-Elise-GT1-007.html). It is still raced by the Hezemans family, who originally fielded a pair of [Elise GT1s](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/283/Lotus-Elise-GT1.html) in period. Held back by tightened restrictor regulations and a relatively modest budget, the Elise GT1 had much unfulfilled promise. Chassis [007](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4747/Lotus-Elise-GT1-007.html) on the entry list for this weekend was the 1997 Le Mans car and should now feature on the sharp end of the grid.
Lola is always strongly represented during Peter Auto weekends and this Espiritu de Montjuic will be no exception. T70s are common sight but the featured [SL76/149](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/1245/Lola-T70-Mk3B-Coupe-Chevrolet-SL76-149.html) is only rarely seen racing in Europe. It was sold new to Mike de Udy and also starred in the Le Mans movie. It is now owned by two American brothers and will race in Classic Endurance Racing 1. In CER2, this [T292](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4593/Lola-T292-BDG-HU61.html) will race, which was sold originally to Dutch racer Jan van Straaten. He raced the car extensively and after a sojourn in Belgian hands, chassis [HU61](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4593/Lola-T292-BDG-HU61.html) is, fittingly, back in Dutch hands.
Renault today confirmed the production version of the [R5 Turbo 3E](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8781/Renault-R5-Turbo-3E.html), which will enter limited production in 2027. Equipped with a pair of electric motors, mounted in each of the rear wheels, it promises to be a proper tribute to the Group 4 and Group B rally cars of the 1980s. The order books for the [R5 Turbo 3E](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8781/Renault-R5-Turbo-3E.html) will open shortly and prospected buyers need to hurry as only 1980 examples will be built.
2025-03-13: All-new Morgan Supersport and Longbow electric sports car ...
[](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8778/Morgan-Supersport.html)Very traditional British sports car manufacturer Morgan ushered in a new era with the launch of the [Supersport](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8778/Morgan-Supersport.html). Replacing the Plus 6 as the range-topping model, it features a modern interpretation of the classic Morgan shape with elements from the previous Aero models. The new Morgan is also more practical as its predecessors thanks to the interchangeable soft- and hard-tops. It is built around an updated version of the bonded aluminium spaceframe chassis. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Morgan's collaboration with BMW and the [Supersport](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8778/Morgan-Supersport.html) is again powered by a German engine. Mated to a ZF eight-speed gearbox is a turbocharged BMW straight-six engine, which is good for 335 bhp in this state of tune. Thanks to the lightweight construction, the Supersport can accelerate to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.
Another British car to break cover this week is the Longbow, offered in two distinct versions. Slated as the country's first all-electric sports car, the first 150 examples will be produced in the more aggressive [Speedster](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8779/Longbow-Speedster.html) configuration, which tips the scales at a mere 895 kg. This will then be followed by the confusingly named but closed [Roadster](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8780/Longbow-Roadster.html). Despite the addition of a roof, it is just 100 kg heavier than the Speedster.

[](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/722/Tyrrell-P34-Cosworth-P34-2.html)One of the most unusual cars to race and win in Formula 1 is the [Tyrrell P34](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/703/Tyrrell-P34-Cosworth.html) 'six wheeler'. Designed by Derek Gardner, the P34 ran four small front wheels for aerodynamic efficiency. Powered by the ubiquitous Cosworth DFV V8, it became the first and to date only Formula 1 car with more or less than four wheels to score a Grand Prix win in Sweden that year. For 1977, the surviving cars were updated and re-finished in a white and blue colour scheme. That was also the case with [P34/2](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/722/Tyrrell-P34-Cosworth-P34-2.html) featured today. It spent many years in the Donington Grand Prix Collection Museum before it re-emerged and was raced at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix. It is now owned by an Italian former Formula 1 driver, who had it restored to its 1976 configuration.
The 2025 Formula 1 World Championship will kick off this weekend in Australia. Two closely related cars on the grid in Melbourne will be the [Racing Bulls VCARB 02](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8757/Racing-Bulls-VCARB-02-RBPT-Honda.html) and the [Red Bull Racing RB21](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8756/Red-Bull-Racing-RB21-RBPT-Honda.html). All eyes will of course be on the [RB21](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8756/Red-Bull-Racing-RB21-RBPT-Honda.html), which will be raced by defending champion Max Verstappen and his new team-mate Liam Lawson.
2025-03-06: Broad Arrow Auctions The Amelia preview and new Lotus Emira Turbo SE ...

Headlining this weekend's sale are this [Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Competizione Spyder](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/3295/Ferrari-250-GT-LWB-California-Spyder-Competizione-1451GT.html) and an early works [Jaguar D-Type](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/1914/Jaguar-D-Type-Works-XKD-403.html).
A car that also caught our eye is this very low mileage [Ferrari F40](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4741/Ferrari-F40-86620.html). Ferrari Classiche certified, it covered only 1,248 miles from new and is now estimated to sell for around $4 million. Having been used as it should is this [Lamborghini Miura SV](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4740/Lamborghini-Miura-P400-SV-4854.html), which was originally sold to Germany and was later part of the Rosso Bianco collection for many years. Fully restored by marque specialists Carrozzeria Cremonini in Italy, [4854](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4740/Lamborghini-Miura-P400-SV-4854.html) is expected to sell for over $4.5 million.
One of the most fascinating cars due to cross the block is this [Chevrolet Corvette Le Mans](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4739/Chevrolet-Corvette-Le-Mans-00867S102272.html). One of just three built in 1960, it was raced at Sebring and Le Mans before being abandoned after a traffic accident. Many years later, it was discovered by an Arizona based, Swedish Corvette enthusiast, who returned the car to the United States and reunited it with its original engine, which had been used to power a Maserati 250F. Recently re-restored, the very rare ex-Camoradi [Corvette](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4739/Chevrolet-Corvette-Le-Mans-00867S102272.html) has a $1 - 1.3 million estimate.
Lotus have revived the Turbo SE badge for the updated four-cylinder engined [Emira](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8777/Lotus-Emira-Turbo-SE.html). Now in [Turbo SE](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/8777/Lotus-Emira-Turbo-SE.html) trim, it packs 40 additional horsepower from its two-litre engine. The 400 bhp engined machine is the entry level model and is offered alongside the more expensive V6-powered version.

It is the first sale of the year for the West Coast auctioneer and crucially also the first held since the company joined forces with Christie's. Judging from the catalog little has visibly changed and the two-day sale is packed with fascinating lots. Perhaps the most interesting is this [Ruf CTR Yellowbird](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4734/Ruf-CTR-Yellowbird-W09BT0343KPR06026.html), which is offered in time-warp condition. It is one of nine finished in the colour that earned the model the Yellowbird nickname. It was not registered for the road until 2020 and the [CTR](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4734/Ruf-CTR-Yellowbird-W09BT0343KPR06026.html) is now consigned by its second owner with an estimate of in excess of $6 million. Another Ruf in the sale is this striking [CTR 2](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4733/Ruf-CTR2-W09BD0368VPR06008.html) that was actually used as intended.
The sale also features a pair of Porsches; a [904 Carrera GTS](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4736/Porsche-904-Carrera-GTS-904-028.html) with impressive period racing history and a single ownership of 52 years between 1972 and 2024, and a [959 Komfort](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4735/Porsche-959-WP0ZZZ95ZJS900131.html) that was one of very few cars to escape the collection of the Brunei royal family.
Italian thoroughbreds feature strongly as well with this fascinating [Fiat 8V Rapi Berlinetta](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4738/Fiat-8V-Rapi-Berlinetta-106-000093.html). It was originally used by the experimental department and has survived in remarkably original condition. The [Lamborghini Miura S](https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/chassis/4737/Lamborghini-Miura-P400-S-3832.html) due to cross the block was kept by its original owner for 39 years. It was then meticulously restored by Italian marque specialists and is now offered from its third owner from new.
