When writing articles here:
* **Use [Basic English](/wiki/Basic_English "Basic English") words and shorter sentences.** This allows people to understand complex terms or phrases.
* **Write good pages.** The best encyclopedia pages have useful, well-written information.

He was born **George Washington Morrison Nutt** in [New Hampshire](/wiki/New_Hampshire "New Hampshire"). He was very short. In 1861, he was [touring](https://simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/tour#Verb "wikt:tour") [New England](/wiki/New_England "New England") with a [circus](/wiki/Circus "Circus") when [P. T. Barnum](/wiki/P._T._Barnum "P. T. Barnum") hired him to appear at the [American Museum](/wiki/American_Museum "American Museum") in [New York City](/wiki/New_York_City "New York City"). Barnum gave Nutt the [stage name](/wiki/Stage_name "Stage name") Commodore Nutt, a [wardrobe](https://simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/wardrobe "wikt:wardrobe") that included [naval](https://simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/naval "wikt:naval") [uniforms](/wiki/Uniform "Uniform"), and a [miniature](https://simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/miniature "wikt:miniature") [carriage](/wiki/Carriage "Carriage") in the shape of an English [walnut](/wiki/Walnut "Walnut").
