When we look back on the iPhone 16e years from now, the thing weā€™ll all remember is that it was the first iPhone to use Appleā€™s own modem.

Even though the two companies [have a testy relationship](https://9to5mac.com/2019/04/16/apple-qualcomm-settlement/), Apple has historically relied on Qualcomm for modems. [The C1 chip in the iPhone 16e](https://9to5mac.com/2025/02/19/apple-reveals-c1-its-first-in-house-5g-iphone-modem-replacing-qualcomm/) is Appleā€™s first step toward breaking up with Qualcomm.

Qualcomm, however, says itā€™s not worried about the competition posed by Appleā€™s foray into modemsā€¦

Apple has released a new update to Shazam, the music tagging service that it bought in 2018. The latest version adds songs tagged from outside the app to the Shazam playlist in Apple Music and Spotify.
